California Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom will appear on HBO's Bill Maher's "Real Time" this next Friday as a panelist (that's two weeks from this past friday). This could be interesting for several reasons, besides the fact I'm a fan of Newsom and Maher.- Newsom is the Lt. Governor of the largest state in the nation, a state that is in the midst of budget changes being instituted by Governor Jerry Brown. Any austerity from that state is news.
- Newsom is the #2 guy in an administration that is fighting a budget deficit in ways very different from Scott Walker or Chris Christie, the GOP Governors in the news of late.
- Newsom is an outspoken Democrat on issues from the environment, to human trafficking, to gay rights.
So this should be a good one. At least one worth watching.
