Well, in Ohio, the anti-union bill passed. Sure, the margin there was 17-16, and they had to change the rules as they went, but it passed. In Tennessee and Indiana, the battles go on as well, with the GOP showing no signs of interest in negotiations that would change their bills. Only in Wisconsin does it seem like the GOP is breaking. In Wisconsin, Walker looks pathetic. His own party clearly has members in the Senate wavering on his bill, which doesn't look good for a guy who won't negotiate. Facing recalls, his party is getting pretty crazy looking for a way out. They are now proposing an unconstitutional police search and detainment of all absent State Senators, namely the "Wisconsin 14" Democrats in Illinois. Basically, Walker needs a way out, and bad.
Democrats in Wisconsin should not give him any olive branch. He either capitulates completely on his union busting, or he goes under in the tide coming to get him. Collective bargaining is not up for discussion, nor should it be. The union has already come to the table and agreed to pay exactly what he's asking for, no questions asked. There's no more room to talk. Walker must be broken here, and that is exactly what the Senate Democrats should demand. Polls show the man would lose re-election, and may even be re-called after a year. The risk is on him now.
