The Koch Brothers Price Tag On 2012: $88 Million

Fresh off of buying the best Congress they could get themselves, the Koch brothers are taking aim at 2012. They are planning to put $88 million into conservative causes for the next election, much as they did in 2010. The Supreme Court says this is their "first amendment right." I guess the size of your rights depend on the size of your bank account these days?

All of this outside money is a curse, whether it comes from the Koch boys or George Soros. I certainly would argue that Soros almost has to spend while these guys are out trying to buy Congress, but that makes none of it right. At this point, the campaigns themselves mean less than the deep, deep pockets behind them. The better candidate? No. The larger amount of third party ads now rule.
